Olanipekun Olukoyede, commonly known as Ola, is the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria. Born on October 14, 1969, in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Ola is currently 54 years old. Besides his role in the EFCC, he serves as a pastor in the City of Refuge, Lagos Province 12, part of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
Ola's education includes studies at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Executive Education, Lagos State University, University of Lagos, and the Institute of Arbitration in both Paris, France, and Lagos. Before becoming the EFCC Chairman, he worked as a lawyer at a firm owned by former Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. He also served as the Chief of Staff to the EFCC Executive Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and later as the Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023. His appointment as EFCC Chairman was announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2023.
With 22 years of experience in regulatory compliance consulting, fraud management, and business intelligence, Ola brings significant expertise to the EFCC. He is a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel in the United Kingdom and the Federal Government Technical Committee on the Repositioning of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, highlighting his extensive involvement in financial and regulatory matters.
