Kunle Afolayan, born on September 30, 1975, in Ebute Metta, Lagos State, Nigeria, is a renowned actor, producer, and director in the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood1.

He is the son of the famous theatre and film director Adeyemi Josiah Afolayan, popularly known as Ade Love1. Kunle initially pursued a career in banking after studying economics but later transitioned to filmmaking, studying at the New York Film Academy.

Afolayan made his directorial debut in 2006 with the film Irapada, a supernatural thriller that won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film in an African Language1.

He has since directed several critically acclaimed films, including The Figurine, Phone Swap, October 1, and Citation1. His work is known for elevating the quality of Nollywood movies through larger budgets, shooting on 35mm film, and improving storytelling standards.
