Chimaroke Nnamani, born on May 30, 1960, in Port Harcourt, is a distinguished medical doctor and Nigerian politician from Enugu State. Nnamani hails from Agbani in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. He attended Methodist Primary School and the College of the Immaculate Conception in Enugu. He is an alumnus of the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.

He furthered his postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology at the State University of New York and the Interfaith Medical Center/Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. His academic journey continued at Loma Linda University and the University of South Florida, specializing in maternal-fetal medicine.

Before venturing into politics, Nnamani had an extensive medical career in the United States. He served as an attending physician in several health facilities, including Loma Linda University Medical Center, San Bernardino County Medical Center, Riverside General Hospital, Florida Hospital, and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children. His professional interests spanned basic science research in gap junction physiology and clinical interests in high-risk pregnancies, prematurity, and prenatal diagnosis.

He was actively involved in numerous professional societies and contributed significantly to scientific research, with publications and presentations in major journals and conferences.

Nnamani's political career began with his election as the National President of the Nigerian Medical Students' Association. He was elected Governor of Enugu State in 1999 and re-elected in 2003. During his tenure, he implemented significant infrastructural and developmental projects, including the establishment of the new permanent campus of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, and the Enugu Campus of the Nigerian Law School.

He also prioritized health, establishing numerous hospitals and upgrading healthcare facilities. His administration improved road networks, electricity supply, and water supply across the state, significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents.

After serving as governor, Nnamani was elected to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing the Enugu East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011. Despite losing subsequent elections in 2011 and 2015, he remained a significant political figure, returning to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2017.

In the 2019 general elections, he was re-elected to the Senate, where he served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa/NEPAD and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Drugs and Narcotics, among other committee memberships. Nnamani's contributions to Enugu State and his continued influence in Nigerian politics underscore his enduring legacy as a leader committed to public service and development.
