Abba Kabir Yusuf, born on January 5, 1963, in Gaya, Northern Region (now in Kano State), Nigeria, is a prominent Nigerian politician who currently serves as the governor of Kano State. His early education began with Islamic teachings under his late grandfather, Danmakwayon Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Bashari. He attended Sumaila Primary School and completed his secondary education at Government Secondary School Dawakin Tofa and Government Secondary School Lautai in Gumel. He pursued higher education at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, where he earned a National Diploma (ND) in Civil Engineering in 1985.
