Members of the playing and management body of Yobe Desert Stars Football Club were involved in a road accident on Thursday, April 3 on their way to Birnin Kebbi for a league match.

The media team of the football club in a statement indicated that the accident occurred in Sokoto State while injured persons are being treated at a local hospital.

The statement indicated that three officials and some players sustained various degrees of injuries.

The club has called on its supporters and football fans in Damaturu to pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.

“We urge our supporters and all football lovers to remain calm and pray for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident,” said the club.

The team was travelling to Kebbi in a hired mass transit bus as the club bus was said to be unserviceable.
