Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has revealed that the club’s Vice President, Metin Ozturk, personally called him to confirm he wasn't being pranked after he agreed to join the Turkish side.
Osimhen moved to Galatasaray following a turbulent transfer saga at Napoli, just a season after helping the Italian club secure their first Scudetto in 33 years.
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, the Nigerian striker disclosed that shortly after his conversation with Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, Ozturk called him within 30 minutes to verify if the transfer agreement was real.
"He was like, ‘Victor, are you serious?’ I said, ‘Yeah, get it done. Get it done.’ And then he said, ‘OK, I’m going to call you back in 30 minutes.’ I think he then contacted the club’s officials, and they told him, ‘Yeah, Victor is coming.’”
"Then, I received a call from the vice president, and he said, ‘I know you just spoke with the coach, but I want to confirm—he’s not playing a prank on me, right?’ I told him, ‘Yes, I just spoke with him. Get it done.’ My whole family was with me, including my daughter, and I told them, ‘I'm ready.’”
Osimhen added that Galatasaray moved quickly to finalize the deal, arranging a private jet for his transfer.
"They told me they could come pick me up the next day. The private jet arrived at 10 in the morning, but I didn’t leave until the evening because they had to finalize some paperwork."
Despite missing pre-season preparations, Osimhen has been in top form for Galatasaray, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists in 29 appearances across all competitions since joining on loan.
