The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved a change of name for the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

At its Annual General Assembly in Oyo on Sunday, September 10, the NFF modified the name of the topflight local league to Nigeria Premier Football League.

The new date for the commencement of next season's campaign will be announced soon.

Enyimba FC are the current title holders haven't won last season's campaign under the tutorship of Finidi Goerge.
