Osimhen’s childhood friend euphoric after 'feeling' CAF Top Player Award

Victor Osimhen's childhood friend, Adeyemi Adesoye said his pose with the CAF Player of the Year Award was bound to happen as it was made in heaven.

Africa's best player, Osimhen returned to Olusosun in the Ojota area of Lagos State, where he spent his childhood days.

He picked up the award in December becoming the first Nigerian to win it after Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

In his reaction, Adeyemi Adesoye, popularly known as 'Yemzo', said he was overjoyed to have a feel of the CAF top player's award. He told Sports Brief: "My name is Adeyemi Adesoye, Yemzo, childhood friend of Victor Osimhen, I am really happy to reunite with him.

"Osimhen has been doing so well in the 'hood. After the CAF Award, we have been expecting him.

"I am really happy he came around with the CAF Award. I am overjoyed that, this same award I see on TV with the likes of Didier Drogba, Sadio Mane, [Mohamed] Salah and the rest, I, 'Yemzo', can touch it."

Osimhen struggled in the 2023/24 season despite a stellar season earlier were he scored 26 league goals. He also won the top scorer's award, becoming the first African to achieve such a feat in Italian football.

The Arsenal and Chelsea target reunited with his friends in the area and presented the prestigious gong to them.
