'Light up the Bernabeu!' — Ronaldo's message to Mbappe as he officially joins Real Madrid

Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his excitement after his former side confirmed the signing of Frenchman Kylian Mbappe on Monday, June 5.

Mbappe, 25, joined Los Blancos for free after he refused to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Monaco forward has penned a five-year deal with the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners.

Several players, pundits and fans took to social media to congratulate the 2018 World Cup winner following the official announcement by Real Madrid including Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni and Vinicius Junior, who will be playing with Mbappe at the Bernabeu next season.

Despite the many congratulatory messages, one message stood out and that was from the club's all-time top scorer and Mbappe's childhood idol Cristiano Ronaldo.

Taking to his Instagram, Ronaldo wrote: “Excited to see you light up the Bernabeu!”

Mbappe have been tipped to fill the shoes of Ronaldo who left the Bernabeu in 2018.
