Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Ikpeba has offered some advice to head coach Finidi George ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.

Speaking in an interview on Score Nigeria, Victor Ikepba says the Super Eagles must play with high intensity during the game.

"South Africa will be stubborn, as we saw at the last AFCON," warned Ikpeba adding "they have a lot going for them and are no longer intimidated by Nigeria."

The former Monaco forward emphasized that the Nigerian team must play with high intensity during the match.

"The Super Eagles have to step up to beat them in Uyo. It won’t be easy, but Nigeria has the players to win. This is the game of their lives, and Finidi has to get them to win this match."

The game against South Africa will be Finidi George's first official game since he was appointed team coach.

The game is important for the 53-year-old as he carries the hopes of more than 200 million Nigerians.

Nigeria's last meeting against Bafana Bafana ended in a far-from-convincing victory for the Super Eagles, fuelling concerns among team fans.

The 1997 African Footballer of the Year concluded by stressing the need for immense support for the Super Eagles.

"We have to support the team to get the job done."

The Nigerian team has yet to secure a victory in 90 minutes against South Africa since the quarter-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
