The international future of Michael Olise has become a hot topic within the Nigerian football community following his exclusion from the England squad for the UEFA Euro tournament.

The France U21 international, who is eligible to play for either the French national team, England, or Nigeria, had been holding out to feature for either Gareth Southgate’s side or France at the upcoming showpiece in Germany.

However, the Crystal Palace attacker was overlooked by the managers of both teams, sparking discussions about the possibility of Olise reconsidering his options and potentially representing Nigeria.

Nonetheless, amid these speculations, former Nigeria midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has shared his thoughts on the prospect of Olise donning the green and white jersey of the Super Eagles.

Adepoju speaks on Olise

In an interview with the media outlet Sports Boom, the 53-year-old former midfielder shared his thoughts on the possibility of Michael Olise playing for Nigeria.

While the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner expressed that it would be pleasing to have the Crystal Palace star join the Nigerian national team, he emphasised that the final decision rests with the coach.

"I do not have extensive information on Olise, but I believe he's a good player, an exciting one at that.

"Nigeria has always been blessed with talent, so it's up to the manager to decide who to invite and who to leave out.

"This isn't the first time Olise has been mentioned in the media. There are many talented players out there, playing in top leagues. If Coach Finidi wants to invite any of them to the national team, he will do so."

Finidi has recently expressed his interest in having players of Nigerian descent feature for the Super Eagles, but he also emphasised that these players must demonstrate their willingness to represent Nigeria.
