Former Super Eagles defender, Abbey George says coach Eric Chelle and the playing body must be held responsible for the heartbreaking draw against Zimbabwe.
He made this known in an interview at Brila on Thursday, March 27.
Zimbabwe shocked the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio stadium after scoring a late equalizer during the 2026 FIFA World Cup game.
Forward Victor Osimhen scored in the 74th minute, however, Zimbabwe got an equalizer through substitute Tawanda Chirewa.
But George believes the entire Super Eagles squad and Chelle are to be blamed for the outcome of the match.
“It was sad to see but the coach and the players have to take responsibility,” George said.
Nigeria are now six points behind leaders South Africa in Group C with four matches remaining to conclude the World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will tackle Rwanda in their next World Cup qualifier in September.
