The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, has raised concerns over the alleged diversion of fertilisers provided by the government to farmers in the Toto Local Government Area.
During a distribution exercise held on Monday, July 15, 2024, Akabe stated that 1,200 bags of fertilizer NPK and Urea products) were delivered, but less than 500 bags were made available for distribution at the site.
“The fertilizers here are not up to 500 bags. 1,200 bags were delivered to the area for distribution to farmers.
“Beneficiaries are entitled to a bag each at zero cost,” Akabe stated.
Akabe who was stunned by the behaviour of some public officers who vowed not to betray the trust of the people are stealing from them.
“What belongs to the people should be given to the people.”
The Deputy Governor revealed that the state government has filed a petition to the police to investigate the diversion of fertilisers supplied to Doma, Karu and Toto, in Nassarawa.
He asks the police to arrest the culprits and hold them accountable for the missing items.
