A pupil going to school was killed in Amaekpu Ohafia town, Ohafia LGA of Abia State, on Wednesday when a truck hit a motorcycle conveying him to school.
Also, the commercial motorcyclist who was conveying the boy to school was confirmed dead in the accident.
As of the time of filing this report, it had not been officially established if the accident was caused by overspeeding on the part of the truck driver or brake failure.
But some community members said that the truck, which was fully loaded, hit the two victims from behind while on high speed.
Indigenes of the community who gathered at the scene wept profusely even as they lamented the recklessness of commercial drivers along the Amaekpu-Ebem-Arochukwu road.
Abia State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ngozi Ezeoma, was contacted by DAILY POST on Wednesday. She promised to investigate the incident.
