The Ondo State election is on the way in different polling units.
A video showing the moment the first voter voted has emerged on social media.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cleared 17 governorship candidates to contest the polls that will be keenly contested between All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi, of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The other contestants are Falaiye Abraham Ajibola (A), Akinuli Fred Omolere (AA), Ajayi Adekunle Oluwaseyi (AAC), Nejo Adeyemi (ADC), Akinnodi Ayodeji Emmanuel (ADP), Popoola Olatunji Tunde (APGA), Ogunfeyimi Isaac Kolawole (APM), Fadoju Amos Babatunde (APP), Ebiseni Olusola Nehemiah (LP), Olugbemiga Omogbemi Edema (NNPP), Ajaunoko Funmilayo Jenyo (NRM), Alli Babatunde Francis (PRP), Akingboye Benson Bamidele (SDP), Adegoke Kehinde Paul (YP), Akinmurele John Otitoloju (YPP) and Mimiko Olubansile Abbas (ZLP).
The voter turnout has been impressive despite early fears that residents won't come out to vote.
On the ground to get their electoral materials were Polling Unit Officers and National Youth Service Corps members.
Policemen who would accompany the materials and officials were also there.
Early risers were also checking their names on the voter’s list as they waited for the exercise to commence.
