The Kano State Hisbah Board has banned all forms of sports betting in the state and issued a warning to landlords who rent apartments to unknown persons, as such individuals will be arrested.

This decision was made due to rising concerns about houses being used as lodges and motels.

During a press briefing on Hisbah’s renewed fight against immorality, the Deputy Commander-General of the board, Dr Mujaheed Aminuddeen, said, “We have re-launched "Operation Flush Out Immorality," and our operatives will soon clamp down on individuals and groups violating social order.”

Dr Mujaheed also mentioned new regulations regarding courtship in the state, emphasising that prospective couples would not be allowed to sit in tinted vehicles, especially at night.

“The law prohibits street begging, and any female beggar found outside late at night will be arrested,” he added.

Additionally, women riding in tricycles after 10pm will be arrested. This is due to the high rate of prostitution among young girls.

Dr Mujaheed warned parents to ensure their children do not become culprits, stressing that “Violating these rules will attract stiff penalties.”
