Nigerians on the micro-blogging platform X have reacted to a viral video of a self-proclaimed Muslim cleric who was allegedly found responsible for the deaths of some residents of Oyo State.
A crowd could be seen apprehending the cleric, who is yet to be identified, as they raided his home to find human body parts and the corpses of deceased individuals.
A search of his room revealed corpses on his bed - a young man and a child.
"A self-proclaimed Muslim cleric, who specializes in selling human parts, was caught yesterday in the Apete area of Ibadan after killing two people," Oyo Affairs, a platform on X, wrote.
Such incidents are not new to Oyo State.
In November 2023, the police command in the state announced the arrest of a 45-year-old Islamic cleric over alleged possession of fresh human parts.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Adewale Osifeso, said police detectives arrested the suspect at about 10:00 a.m. on November 6 in the Ogbere-Tioya Area, Ibadan.
Mr. Osifeso alleged that the arrest was made possible following credible intelligence reports from members of the public.
“The dragnet of the command caught up with the cleric after purposeful investigations and tracking around Ogbere-Tioya Area, Ibadan, under Ona-ara Local Government Area."
