On Monday, May 27, 2024, a group of hoodlums launched an assault on the Ipaja police station in Lagos, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire with the police.

The confrontation occurred in the Ipaja area, within the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, and reportedly resulted in fatalities among the attackers.

The incident initially spread fear among the local residents, but the situation has since stabilized with the deployment of additional police forces to the region.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, stated that while order has been restored, the exact number of casualties is still being determined.

"Peace has returned to the area, although we are still verifying the casualty figures," Hundeyin reported.

A widely shared video captured the chaos, showing residents scrambling for safety amidst the sound of ongoing gunfire.
