Mr Mohammed Isimbabi, a Toto/ Gadabuke Constituency representative at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker cited division in the NNPP at the national level as the major reason he is defecting to the ruling APC.
Speaker of the House, Mr Danladi Jatau read his defection letter during proceedings on Monday, August 26 in Lafia.
The Speaker commended him for his bold step in joining the ruling APC in the state, adding that his defection would add value to the party.
Also speaking, the APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, commended Isimbabi for joining the party and assured him of equity and fairness.
On his part, Mr Musa Abubakar( NNPP- Doma South), while congratulating Isimbabi on his defection, said that he would also join APC soon.
He said: “Hon Isimbabi’s defection is a welcome development. We share common political interests. I will be leaving NNPP soon.”
Reacting to his defection, Isimbabi thanked the NNPP for giving him the platform to vie for the election which he used to win his seat.
The lawmaker said that he would continue to serve his people to improve their standard of living.
“Before taking this decision, I have gone round the six electoral wards of my constituency to consult them on my defection.
“They have given me the go-ahead to defect to APC,” he said.
