A fire engulfed a Mobil filling station located on Allen Avenue in the Ikeja area of Lagos on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Thick smoke and flames were seen coming out of the fuel station, leading many to run for their lives. Several vehicles around the fuel station also caught fire.

A man who was caught in the fire and managed to escape was seen almost naked, as parts of his clothes were partially burned by the fire.

He sustained severe burns on his hands, legs, and body. The building next to the filling station also caught fire.

Reports indicate that the fire service arrived at the scene to quench the fire.

It has been alleged that the fire occurred as a result of a gas leak, although the fire service has yet to ascertain the cause of the inferno.
