Bandits armed with sophisticated weapons on Friday night, March 12, 2021, attacked Erena, a semi-urban town in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, killing one person and abducting six others.
According to a source in the community, the town was one of the few in the Lakpma axis of Shiroro LGA that had not successfully been attacked or invaded.
He said, “These criminals attack their victims at will without any hindrance, resistance, or confrontation from the authorities concerned. Sadly, defenseless, unarmed, and peaceful locals have been abandoned to their fate, wallowing in perpetual agony.”
