Former gubernatorial candidate in Lagos state, Funsho Doherty says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won't rule the state forever as he predicts the end of their dominance soon.
Doherty made this during an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast released on Monday, December 2.
The governorship candidate who recently defected to the PDP indicated that the APC can rule the state for even 50 years but change will stare them in the face in no time.
Citing the 2023 elections, he noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would have lost his second-term bid if the state elections were held on the same day as the presidential elections.
President Bola Tinubu lost Lagost state to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just-concluded polls.
He said: "When something is going to change, right, it's one day it will change. It can be there for 50 years, but the day is going to change, it's one day it will change. And the things that will make it change, will make it change. When I came out and said that I was going to enter the race in the last election, what I said was that APC's dominance in Lagos is a myth."
"Right? Yes, you may look at them as dominant, but look at the actual numbers that we are talking about. Most people did not believe it was, but in the presidential election, APC lost Lagos in the INEC declared result. Yeah. Isn't it? Yes. In the INEC declared result, APC lost Lagos."
"We can't argue with that one now. It is a fact. If you go and look at the INEC website today, you will see it. You see what I mean? Some argue that if the governorship election had been held on that same day, they would have lost Lagos too."
