The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 governorship election in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor has revealed the reason he lost the election.

Jandor in an exclusive interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, March 4 said the wave led by Peter Obi and the Labour Party was responsible for his defeat.

According to him, his campaign where on the path to victory before the polls but the sudden dynamic changed the trajectory of the results.

“We did everything, but that wave came and swallowed the whole thing. Nobody saw that coming,” Jandor said.

When asked, “If not for Peter Obi’s influence in the presidential election, would you have won the governorship election?” Jandor responded, “Absolutely, I probably would have won the election at the governorship election.”

Jandor finished a distant third to incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who polled a total of 762,134 votes to emerge winner.

According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, polled 312,329 votes, while Jandor scored 62,449 votes.
