Isaac Fayose has lamented the controversy surrounding the invitation and subsequent arrest of Yahaya Bello, the embattled former governor of Kogi State by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Early on Wednesday, September 18, the Director of his Media Office, Ohiare Michael, said Yahaya Bello was honoring the invitation by the anti-graft agency. The statement indicated the decision was made after due consultations with his family, legal team, and political allies.

Several news reports indicated Bello was in the custody of the EFCC and was answering questions on the N80.2 billion allegations leveled against him and three others.

However, those reports have been dismissed by the anti-graft agency in a statement, as it said the reports of Bello being in a holding facility owned by the commission are incorrect. The Commission wishes to state that Bello is not in its custody.

Bello, already declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges, remains wanted with a subsisting warrant for his arrest.

The latest update has come as a shock to political and social commentators both on and off social media.

Reacting to the updates, Fayose has called out the EFCC for what he describes as inconsistencies. In a video he shared on his Instagram page, he wrote: "How can you say early in the morning that Yahaya Bello is in our custody At 8 am, all media say Yahaya Bello is in EFCC custody but at 11 am EFCC says Bello can go home because they dont have time to attend to his matter."

"By 1 pm we got another message that Yahaya Bello is wanted, who is fooling who? EFCC hasn't told us if they saw him today o they just came out today to tell us he is wanted."

"So who is fooling who, EFCC?"
