In the eve of Abba Kyari's death, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has cautioned against social distancing and mass gatherings.
It made this statement in a tweet while commiserating with the family of the deceased Chief of Staff.
"Even at this time, as we mourn loved ones lost to COVID-19, including the recently deceased, President’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, we need to refrain from attending mass gatherings to prevent the further spread of COVID19," the NCDC tweeted.

Nonetheless, the Presidency stressed that the ex-Chief of Staff would be laid to rest today in Abuja today. Disregarding the NCDC's concerns.
Personal Assistant on New Media to the President, Bashir Ahmad, announced this via his Twitter handle.
Bashir tweeted, "Mallam Abba Kyari will be buried later today in Abuja according to Islamic rites."
