Former Senator, Shehu Sani has described the incident that almost led to his suspension in the Upper Chamber in 2018.
The ex-Kaduna Central representative said he was almost suspended after disclosing the salaries and allowances of federal lawmakers.
According to him, he would have faced a six-month suspension if not for the swift intervention of the then-Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
He shared this in a post on X (formerly Twitter) following the suspension of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Reflecting on the risks of speaking out, he warned that any lawmaker who “blows the whistle too loudly” would have to bear the consequences alone.
Sani wrote, “When I publicly disclosed the salaries and allowances of Senators, it nearly earned me a six-month suspension if not for divine intervention and the immediate rescue by Saraki and Ekweremadu. Just know that if you are there and you blow the whistle too loudly, you will be ‘on your own’. No senator will risk their head or neck to support you.”
