Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has condemned the arbitrary arrest and detention of dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
In a statement by the civic rights group on Twitter, it said the former traditional ruler was being denied his right to liberty and freedom of movement.
Calling for justice, the group asked authorities to release him soon.
"We strongly condemn the arbitrary arrest and detention of dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II. He has a constitutional right to liberty and freedom of movement. Nigerian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release him," it wrote.
