Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has called on Nigerians to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He says joining the party will rid the government of ‘area boys’.
He made the comment in a cryptic message he shared on his X handle referring to President Bola Tinubu and his appointees especially from Lagos as ‘area boys’.
He wrote: “Join in saving this country from area boys”.
His father and former FCT governor recently joined the SDP from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He had accused the party he founded of losing its values while criticizing the administration for its handling of the economy.
Recall El-Rufai had earlier criticized Tinubu for only appointing his “boys” from Lagos into political offices.
“The president’s appointments are not being made because the appointees are Yoruba, but because they are his own boys, and most of the appointments do not even reasonably cover the South-West,” El-Rufai said.
