The All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted Nigerians to "a scam message".

The strong warning was sent to the public following a viral message falsely advertising a bogus “Bola Tinubu empowerment” programme that promises a payment of N85,000.

Legit.ng gathered that the senders request banking details for payment of 'N85,000 from Bola Tinubu empowerment' and ask interested persons to call 07078309083.

In a statement released on Tuesday, April 22, and signed by its national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party described the scheme as a scam and urged Nigerians to exercise caution.

Morka, in the statement obtained by Legit.ng also revealed that the message is being circulated by suspected fraudsters, urging Nigerians to be at alert.

“This is a scam, and we urge members of the public to disregard the message and refrain from calling the posted number or any numbers associated with the message,” Morka stated.

The fraudulent message, which has been widely circulated across social media and messaging platforms, claims that recipients are eligible to receive N85,000 from an empowerment programme allegedly endorsed by President Bola Tinubu.

It then instructs individuals to provide their bank details and contact a specific phone number to process the supposed payment. The APC discredited the message in its statement titled: “Scam Alert – Beware of Fake ‘Bola Tinubu Empowerment’ Disbursement Message Call.”

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the party called on law enforcement authorities to intervene swiftly and bring the scammers to book.

“We call on relevant security agencies to urgently identify and bring the perpetrators to justice,” the APC said.

The party further advised citizens to always verify the authenticity of such claims through official government or party channels, stressing that any genuine empowerment initiative would be communicated transparently.

The APC’s statement comes amid growing concerns over the increasing use of high-profile names to perpetrate scams across Nigeria.
