Boko Haram, officially known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, is an Islamist terrorist organization based in northeastern Nigeria. Founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, the group has been responsible for numerous violent attacks and insurgencies in Nigeria and neighboring countries like Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.

Boko Haram's initial goal was to establish an Islamic state and implement Sharia law, but over time, their activities have expanded to include kidnappings, bombings, and other forms of violence.

The group gained international notoriety in 2014 when they kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, sparking the global #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Despite efforts by Nigerian and international forces to combat them, Boko Haram remains a significant threat in the region. The group has also been involved in clashes with the Chadian army, resulting in numerous casualties on both sides.

Boko Haram's activities have led to widespread displacement and humanitarian crises, with millions of people affected by their insurgency. The group's brutality and the ongoing conflict have had a devastating impact on the region's stability and development.
