Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, often referred to as Ikemba Nnewi, was born on November 4, 1933, in Zungeru, Niger State, Nigeria.

He was a prominent Nigerian military officer and politician, best known for his role as the leader of the breakaway Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970 during the Nigerian Civil War.

Ojukwu was the son of Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, a wealthy Nigerian business tycoon.

He attended King's College, Lagos, and later the University of Oxford, where he studied history.

Ojukwu joined the Nigerian Army and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the military governor of the Eastern Region in 1966.

In 1967, Ojukwu declared the independence of Biafra, leading to a brutal civil war that lasted until 1970.

After the war, he went into exile but returned to Nigeria in 1982 and became an influential political figure.

Ojukwu later joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and was its presidential candidate in the 2003 and 2007 elections.

Ojukwu passed away on November 26, 2011, in London, UK3. He is remembered for his leadership and contributions to Nigerian politics during the Biafran struggle.
