Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is a prominent Nigerian economist and politician, born on July 7, 1969, in Zaria, Kaduna State. He hails from the well-known Baba-Ahmed family, which has a rich history in Islamic scholarship and trade.

Baba-Ahmed holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri and a PhD from the University of Westminster. His early career included roles in business and banking, notably at the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting PLC and First Bank of Nigeria.

Baba-Ahmed's political journey began in 2003 when he was elected to the House of Representatives for the Zaria Federal Constituency under the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). During his tenure, he gained recognition for his strong stance against corruption and his opposition to President Olusegun Obasanjo's Third Term Agenda. In 2011, he was elected as the Senator for Kaduna North, although his victory was later overturned by the electoral tribunal. Beyond politics, Baba-Ahmed is the founder of Baze University in Abuja, established in 2011, which underscores his commitment to education and development.
