Yusuf Maitama Tuggar is a distinguished Nigerian diplomat and politician, currently serving as the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Born on March 12, 1967, in North-Eastern State, Nigeria, Tuggar has a strong educational background with a bachelor's degree in international relations from the United States International University and master's degrees from both the University of Bath and the University of Cambridge. His father, Abubakar Tuggar, was a notable political figure, serving as the Publicity Secretary of the ruling Northern People's Congress during the First Republic.

Tuggar's political career began with his tenure as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, representing Gamawa. During his time in the House, he chaired the House Committee on Public Procurement, where he played a significant role in overseeing government spending and contributing to crucial legislation. He also made two bids for the office of the Governor of Bauchi State, demonstrating his commitment to public service and governance.

From 2017 to 2023, Tuggar served as the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, where he worked to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. In his current role as Minister of Foreign Affairs, he is implementing the "4D Doctrine," which focuses on Demography, Development, Diaspora, and Democracy.
