Ireti Heebah Kingibe, born on June 2, 1954, in Kano State, Nigeria, holds a prominent position in Nigerian. She’s a civil engineer and politician. She is recognized as the younger sister of Ajoke Muhammed, wife of former Nigerian head of state, Murtala Muhammed, and is married to Baba Gana Kingibe, a well-known figure in Nigerian politics.
Her academic journey includes studies at Emotan Preparatory School, Queen's College Lagos, and Washington Irving High School for her secondary education. She pursued higher education in Civil Engineering at the University of Minnesota, graduating between 1975 and 1980.
Professionally, Ireti Kingibe began her career as a Quality Control Engineer at Bradley Precast Concrete Inc. and subsequently worked in various engineering roles, including with the Minnesota Department of Transportation Design unit. Upon returning to Nigeria, she served as a project supervisor at the Nigerian Air Force base in Ikeja and later as a planning engineer at the New Nigeria Construction Company in Kaduna. Currently, she holds the position of senior partner at Kelnic Associates in Abuja.
Ireti Kingibe's political journey commenced in 1990 when she was appointed as an Adviser to the National Chairman of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP). Over the years, she has been affiliated with several political parties, including the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP), People's Democratic Party (PDP), and most recently, the Labour Party. In 2022, she contested and won the FCT Senatorial seat under the Labour Party in the 2023 Nigerian elections, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
