Moniepoint Inc. (formerly TeamApt Inc.), is a fintech company founded in 2015 by Tosin Eniolorunda and Felix Ike. The duo met during their time at Interswitch and established Moniepoint Inc. to provide back-end services to Nigerian banks. Initially operating under the name "TeamApt," the company received a switching license in Nigeria in 2019 and later, in 2022, a banking license from the Central Bank of Nigeria. This enabled Moniepoint to offer business banking services to merchants across Nigeria, and in July 2023, they expanded to provide personal banking services to individuals, aligning with the Central Bank of Nigeria's financial inclusion goals.
Moniepoint has garnered significant recognition within the fintech industry. In 2022, CB Insights named it one of the most promising fintech startups, and the company also received the Financial Inclusion Award from the Central Bank of Nigeria during the International Financial Inclusion Conference. Additionally, Moniepoint was listed as the second-fastest growing company in Africa by the Financial Times in May 2023 and received the Rising Star Family Business award from Businessday, My Family My Business, and PwC Nigeria.
The company has secured substantial investments to fuel its growth. In February 2019, Moniepoint announced a $5.5 million Series A funding round from Quantum Capital Partners. This was followed by an undisclosed amount in a Series B round led by Novastar Ventures in July 2021. Most recently, in a pre-series C funding round, Moniepoint raised $50 million led by QED Investors. Additionally, in March 2023, Moniepoint led a $3 million seed investment round for Nigerian NeoBank, Payday, further expanding its influence in the financial technology sector.
