The Federal Ministry of Health has advised the generality of Nigerians to quit smoking.
In a tweet by the Ministry, it said cigarette smoking suppresses the immune system, increases risk of lung infections, and can cause heart and lung disease.
"People who smoke are at higher risk for severe cases of COVID19 which could lead to death," the Ministry added in a short statement.

Currently, there are almost 10,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria with 2,856 recoveries and 273 deaths.
