Nigerians have expressed mixed feelings over the stand taken by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on the issue of Operation Amotekun.
The APC chieftain broke his silence on the issue today after the public demanded to know his stance.
In a statement issued, Tinubu said “Until now, I have deliberately maintained a studied silence regarding Amotekun. Many have tried to goad my swift public reaction. Those who have taken this road did so not because they care about Amotekun or even the people it intends to help protect. They did so knowing this had become a delicate and emotional issue for many. These cynics did so with the adversarial hope that, in haste, I might misspeak or misstep in a manner they could twist to their political advantage".
Nigerians have now taken to social media to express how they feel about the statement. According to some quarters, Tinubu's statement did well by not adding to the tensions on the issue.
However, some Nigerians feel he didn't really touch on the issue because he fears it may affect his 2023 presidential ambition.
MyNigeria brings you some reactions from Twitter.
LOL...I just read Tinubu's very long take on Amotekun and I must tell you the man is millions of miles ahead of his critics and self appointed political opponents in brilliance and articulation

This statement is filled with too many subs at imaginary haters that the real substance is lost in the midst of all the angst and chest-thumping.

Tinubu needed to give assurances to, and receive clearance from his overlords before he could release this mumbo-jumbo, shame. https://t.co/E3UDEnwzjk
The North really have an opinion on Amotekun because Tinubu has gone there to disgrace his ancestors.

Man, the way Tinubu will walk alone in 2023. A greedy clown who doesn’t know when to quit. All these for a ticket SW APC will never get.
Imagine being of that age and still afraid to speak your mind boldly on national issues by conviction - Fayemi that spoke up, he doesn't have ambition after Ekiti governorship?

Or Akeredolu isn't going to need APC for a second term ticket?
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a joke.
Bola Tinubu has called for a dialogue between the AGF Malami and the South west Governors. Tinubu warns of a major implication of extreme thoughts on the Amotekun experiment......

Thank You Asiwaju..... ????.... We told them but they are more interested in playing to the gallery.
Now that Tinubu has spoken, expect press releases from Sanwoolu, Abiodun and Oyetola soon. Idiots who cannot think for themselves

After reading the so called statement from Tinubu, I just concluded Mr Tinubu is delusional.

Because he was neither here nor there.
He was just throwing stones on some imaginary individuals without hitting the harmer at the center point.
This is called politricking.
Tinubu has displayed the qualities of a good leader. Tbh he's endowed with wisdom. I knw he'll never go against Amotekun. Whoever wants to twist his statement can go ahead. Amotekun has come to stay!#IStandWithAmotekun
