Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has revealed that he and his colleague Emeka Ike have settled their differences and are now on good terms.
In an interview with QEDNG, Segun talked about their disagreement, which started in 2009 due to leadership issues in the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). He shared that the conflict resolved itself over time, and they now laugh about it.
Segun emphasized the importance of letting go of grudges, saying, "Emeka Ike is a great actor. We still talk and laugh about those old issues. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s a fine actor."
He explained, "The disagreement ended naturally. We weren’t fighting—it was just about the position. That’s why I stepped down. He had other things to focus on too. Time passed, we’ve grown older, and now we’re friends. I’ve even invited him for lunch or dinner whenever he’s available."
Segun added, "Why hold onto hate? Life is already tough enough. Hate is heavy. Let it go. How long do we have on Earth? Why carry hate like a burden?"
He also praised his fellow actors, including Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Ramsey Nouah, for avoiding being stuck in one type of role and for growing in their careers.
When asked about rivalry in Nollywood, Segun dismissed the idea, saying it’s better to support each other.
He said, "There’s no need for competition. There’s space for everyone to succeed. When I see my colleagues doing well, I’m genuinely happy for them. You can’t play every role or be everywhere at once. I celebrate their wins with them. Competition only brings bad feelings. It’s all about teamwork, like football players working together."
