Popular clergywoman, Bishop Funke Adejumo has urged married women to dispel the cultural belief that enjoying sex equates to being promiscuous.
In a viral video, Adejumo encouraged women to be more proactive in their sexual lives, particularly in marriage, to help sustain long-lasting relationships.
She emphasized the importance of improving sexual intimacy, noting that sex is the highest form of connection between partners.
She further stated that a lack of sexual fulfillment in marriage creates opportunities for both spiritual and physical disruptions.
The video has sparked widespread reactions across various social media platforms.
"Society has told us that women don’t like sex. I like sex. If I didn’t like sex, I wouldn’t have children, and you are just pretending you like sex. African culture has ingrained in women—through grandmothers and societal norms—that showing enjoyment of sex makes them appear promiscuous. But when your husband touches you, you feel happy. The first step is to erase that belief from your mind; otherwise, you may create problems in your marriage. Tell yourself, ‘Sex is good; I want my husband,’" she said.
She further advised women to be more expressive during intimacy, stating, "When you are having sex with your husband, don’t just lie still in the missionary position. Talk, moan! See how you’re laughing? Sex is good. Don’t hold on to that outdated African mentality—we need to change it. The devil is using it to destroy marriages because sex is the highest level of intimacy. Tickle your husband, touch him while he makes love to you. When he finishes, tell him, ‘Good job!'"
