In a recent interview, Grammy Award winner Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, disclosed that she has never had a lover in her life.

This revelation was revealed by the 29-year-old singer and songwriter when she appeared on the YouTube show "Is the seat taken" hosted by media personality Chinasa Anukam.

This statement comes after Tems' incredible feat of earning her second Grammy Award at the 2025 Grammy Awards—more precisely, for Best African Music Performance—which has made Nigeria proud.

Tems said in an interview with Chinasa Anukam that while she has never had a partner, she does have what she calls a “mini boyfriend”. According to a quick inquiry, a mini boyfriend is a casual male companion who does not signify a significant commitment.

In this sense, a mini boyfriend is someone with whom one has a close relationship and participates in romantic behaviors, but both parties feel they are not attracted enough to each other to pursue a courtship.
