Popular Nigerian content creator Egungun of Lagos has shared his opinions on the idea that a formal education guarantees success in life.
In a short video that was seen online, media personality, Daddy Freeze spoke with Egungun about his schooling and how he has succeeded in spite of having a weak academic background.
According to the content creator, success is not assured by education alone. He used his employees as examples to support his claims.
Egungun of Lagos added that despite having university degrees, his official videographer, personal assistants, and chef all work for him.
In his words, “School does not guarantee the success of man. I have a chef, Tayo who is educated. He read biology in school. He has two degrees. He is a nutritionist and a dietitian. He graduated with a second-class upper. I also have 5 staff. All my PAs also have degrees. My videographer too is a graduate.”
Egungun's comments were met with disapproval from many social media users. Although their attempts were mainly unsuccessful, some chastised him for using his staff as symbols of learned people.

Shy_Damola: "Is this now a flex or what"
kene_Valentine: "Folks with school degree have been getting these subtle shades since ages ago."
Treazyblaq: "The issue isn’t with having a degree, there’s nothing wrong with that. But boasting about a graduate being your chef is nothing to be proud of. It’s not a reflection on you, but a glaring indictment of how Nigeria has failed its people. Unless, of course, the degree is in culinary arts, then that’s a different story."
Sosmacy: "What’s the essence of this video? This type of video shouldn’t even see the daylight but here we are celebrating jargons."
OmoniyiMrbaby: "In any case, it’s not your doing, and you’re not the most driven person. You’ve found grace, my brother, not because you didn’t finish school, but because you are one of the blessed."
Bartezz10: "That’s life, but school is never a scam. Whatever you’ll do in this life, you’ll definitely need education. Just make sure you can read and write, then you’re good to go. You don’t need degrees in this country to be successful fr."
