Food blogger and certified chef, Tolani Tayo-Osikoya, popularly known as Diary of a Kitchen Lover, has recalled how armed robbers stormed her home in 2003, when all members of her family were present.
Chef T, who was 13 years old at the time, was home with her three siblings, parents, uncle and aunt in their residence in Lagos Mainland when suddenly the lights went off. Their home was the only one in the neighbourhood with the generator on when thieves broke into their flat.
They heard a strange voice and saw masked men ordering them to lie down. The thieves asked who was the head of the house and took her father to another room. Chef T explained that one of the thieves ordered the others not to shoot as they loaded their guns with bullets.
According to Chef T, she heard her father telling the thieves that he did not bring any money home, and her mother informed them that her jewelry was all fake.
In an attempt to save his family, her father jumped from the balcony and went to the boys’ quarters, hiding under a bed. This caused confusion among the armed robbers, who immediately ran out of the house to search for him.
Her mother quickly ran to the door to lock it, but one of the thieves left behind hit her on the head with a cutlass, causing her to bleed profusely as she prayed for her husband’s life.
Unable to find her father, the thieves eventually left and did not return. Upon hearing what had happened, the neighbours went in search of her father and upon finding him, rushed her mother to the hospital.
Her story attracted several reactions from friends and fans who took to her comment section to share their thoughts.

remi_akin: Lagos between 1999-2005 was the deadliest. Thank God we are all still alive to tell our stories
survival_always: Hmmmmmm how did we get here as humans. Ready to inflict pain n even take another's life for apparently working hard to survive for himself and his family. May the name of the Lord be praised.
kingmcsteve69: It was truly a miracle that the robbers left without harming anyone and that my dad remained safe. That night was incredibly tense and terrifying I’ll never forget it! Somehow though, we still managed to laugh together as a family afterward while analyzing everyone’s moves to stay safe, especially my uncle’s.
keepingupwithnma: Thank you Jesus! A tragic experience turned into a Testimony…
