Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has shared his thoughts on marriages. He cautioned people to desist from casting blame in broken marriages they have no knowledge about.
His comment comes following the recent controversy involving singer 2Baba and his wife Annie. 2Baba had taken to his social media page to announce that he is separated from his wife and has filed for divorce.
Many people took to social media to express their disappointment about his announcement, with many blaming 2Baba.
In response to the backlash, AY warned people to stop blaming one couple for the collapse of their marriage.
In a post shared on January 28, AY pointed out that no one goes into marriage with the plan to leave. He said that it is troubling to see how “online inlaws'' drag people after their marriages fail.
He called for people to be empathetic to couples heading for divorce and not push people into committing suicide.
He wrote, “Instead of casting blame in broken marriages that you know nothing about, why not focus on the reasons why the institution itself is under attack. No one goes in with a plan to fail. Its troubling to see online inlaws and blogs revel in sensationalism, often at the expense of those hurting. Real lives are involved. Let’s choose empathy over drama and content. Some of you will never rest until you lead a fellow human to suicide.”
