Activist and content creator, Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has expressed disappointment at the betrayal of people for recognition.
Taking to his X page on Thursday, November 14, 2024, Mr Macaroni mentioned that people close to him have sold their consciences for crumbs of the national cake.
He noted that these people have become blinded by their actions, failing to realise that the country belongs to everyone and not just a select group of people.
Mr Macaroni questioned why people have chosen to become slaves in their own country.
“My people sell their consciences for crumbs of the National Cake. They are so blinded by their own betrayal that they do not realize that the bakery belongs to them. It belongs to us all. How can you continue to be a slave in your own Kingdom?”
His comment attracted reactions from Nigerians.
@TheSerahIbrahim: They’d rather spread propaganda than speak the truth.
@trendwithola: It's really sad! I envy your courage to always stand for the truth. God bless you bro
@OfficiaEdoOsasB: Lessons will be learnt.
@realTobiAkinbo: It's baffles me beyond comprehension
The painful part is, they are happy being a slave in their own kingdom
@Jaysings001: Powerful words. It's painful to watch people settle for crumbs when they deserve so much more. Sometimes it's fear, sometimes survival, but either way, it's holding us back from a better future. If we remember that the bakery belongs to us, maybe we can start demanding more than crumbs. It's time we start seeing ourselves as co-owners, not spectators.
@OsigweEbuka2: our government has been a private business, which has made many to be a slave to it
@eroticgal1: It is quite unfortunate bro, the politicians have weaponized poverty against the citizens of Nigeria
@Nkemlucy95: That's the problem. We have been brainwashed
My people sell their conscience for crumbs of the National Cake.
