Controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan has apologized to the Nigerian Police Force for sharing a video where he dressed in a police outfit.

According to reports, the police had opened an investigation and denounced the social media activist's unlawful usage of the uniform.

VeryDarkMan identified himself as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) of the Online Division while sporting a police uniform in the video he shared.

Reacting to the criticisms he received, VeryDarkMan apologized in a video posted on Thursday, October 31, 2024, for wearing clothing that looked like the official police outfit.

VeryDarkMan also advised Nigerians to obtain the appropriate permission before donning police uniforms to prevent miscommunications or legal issues.

He said, “Back from the police station where I was interrogated based on the post I made wearing a costume that the police claim is similar to theirs.

I didn’t intend to impersonate the police in any way, and I tender my unreserved apologies to the Nigerian police force and the office of the Inspector General of Police.

Also, I would like to use this medium to tell the general public to always seek permission from the police or other law enforcement agencies before using anything that might look like their uniform.

You might want to use it for good, but there are others that might want to use it for bad. So it’s good to get full approval before using anything that might seem impersonating."
