Nigerian afrobeats singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr has shared the reason behind her continued single status.

The 22-year-old claimed that it would be difficult for any male to fulfill her extremely high dating criteria.

Ayra Starr expressed her gratitude for not dating before becoming well-known.

The Mavin Records signee revealed this in an interview with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone's Musicians on Musicians edition.

She said, “I’m so happy I wasn’t really dating before I started music. I didn’t really know what I was missing. So now that I waited this long to date people, I have very high standards. If it’s gonna be hard to meet it, it’s gonna be bye-bye. But also, I don’t have time for myself, talk less of a boy."

This is not the first time that the singer has spoken about her love life. In September 2024, Ayra Starr noted that she had never been in love, even though she has been in a couple of relationships.

She disclosed in an interview that she had never been in a serious relationship and she wants to experience what true love feels like.
