Francisca Owumi, the first runner-up of the reality TV series Big Brother Naija in 2006, has sadly been confirmed dead.

The news of her passing was shared on her Instagram account with the caption, "A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen."

It was reported that Francisca Owumi passed away after a brief illness. She was a standout competitor on the inaugural season of Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija), known for her exuberant dancing skills and endearing disposition.

Notable contestants from Season 1 include Joseph Ada, Katung Aduwak, Gideon Okeke, and Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, who now hosts BBNaija, also posted on his X account to share the news of her passing. The reality show host expressed his sorrow and offered his prayers and condolences to the grieving family.

He wrote, "Truly sad to hear about the passing of Francisca Owumi, 1st runner up in the very first season of Big Brother Nigeria in 2006. A true reality TV pioneer.

My prayers are with her family as they go through what must be a difficult time.
And may her soul rest in peace"
