Photos and videos of the late Alhaji Mai Deribe, reported to have been made of gold, have resurfaced.

The house is said to cost $100 million, with construction beginning in the early 80s and lasting 10 years. Its cleaning operations alone costs ₦‎5 million monthly.

This mansion was ranked among the top twenty most expensive houses in the world.

The great Deribe Palace is located in Maiduguri, Borno State. This grand edifice attracted several dignitaries from around the world, including the late Princess Diana and her husband, Prince Charles, as well as King Juan Carlos I of Spain, who stayed for two-day stay in 1986.

Former President of America George Bush, Nigeria’s former head of state Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Prime Minister of Canada were also hosted in this golden building.

The commissioning of this architectural masterpiece was handled by none other than the military president, General Ibrahim Babangida.

It was reported that the Deribe Palace boasts a plethora of lavish apartments and suites, including five sets of four-bedroom accommodations, each allocated to his three wives and mother.

The late tycoon’s son, Shettima Abubakar Mai Deribe claims the main entrance gate is bulletproof.

This ownership placed him in the esteemed company of great men such as Japan's richest man, Yoshiaki Tsutsumi, Saudi Arabia's Khalid Ibn Mahfouz, and CNN's owner, Robert Edward ‘Ted’ Turner.

According to reports, Late Alhaji Mai Deribe lived in the mansion for 12 years before his death on March 13, 2002, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. He was born in 1824 and left behind 27 children.
