The federal government's decision to sign a $150 billion Samoa deal has sparked controversy due to claims of an LGBTQ clause.
On Thursday, July 4, there was an internet leak of information indicating that President Tinubu's federal administration had signed the controversial Samoa Agreement, which supports LGBTQ rights.
Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Nigeria's Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, said on July 1 that the agreement had been inked at an EU-hosted reception in Abuja.
Reportedly, the agreement has clauses mandating that developing and poor nations endorse the acceptance of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community for them to obtain financial and other forms of assistance from developed nations.
James Brown, a well-known transvestite, celebrated the news by posting a video of himself on his Instagram profile.
Social media users responded to this in a variety of ways and expressed their opinions. Some people believe that if a transgender person or a gay person gets close to them, they will discover that the agreement they signed is meaningless.
Others criticized President Tinubu for ignoring the many pressing issues in the country and channeling his attention to LGBTQ.
