Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage in recent a interview said she made efforts to bleach her skin when she was much younger.
“I actually did try to bleach my skin when I was about, I think, 14, 15,” she said as she spoke to Allure magazine about career and dealing with colorism.
She singer says she has grown to love her skin saying this informed her decision to pursue natural looks on set.
She said since accepting herself, she no longer feels pressured to look perfect.
“And I feel like there’s so much pressure now and it’s going to get even worse with social media and there needs to be a balance. There needs to be some people that are not too perfect. I know we want to look good. I don’t want to be out there looking jacked up, but I also want to look relatable,” she said.
The Magazine unveiled her as the face of its ‘This year’s Best of Global Beauty’ issue.
The Nigerian musician and mother of one, dubbed ‘Afrobeat Queen’ by the beauty magazine, was featured alongside Brazillian musician, Anitta and Korean hip-pop artist, CL, reports Daily Trust.
Changing the face & flavor of Brazilian beauty is @anitta, who's making waves without adhering to a carefully-cultivated image of a pop star.
